Repeat prescriptions can only be requested if the doctor has given his authorisation for you to do so either in writing or verbally. In most cases, requests for repeat prescriptions should be made in writing, as this minimises errors and prevents the telephone lines from being blocked.
We have a dedicated phone line for repeat prescriptions:

- Highthorn Road Surgery – 01709 599815, available 24/7
- Thrybergh Medical Centre - 01709 853873 and press 1, this facility is available during surgery opening hours

Allow at least 48 hours for the prescription to be prepared.
Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)
The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service. It gives you the chance to change how your GP sends your prescription to the place you choose to get your repeat medicines or appliances from.
Paper prescriptions go electronic
This practice is starting to send prescriptions electronically. Pick up a leaflet from reception to find out how this could save you time.
What does this mean for you?
If you collect your repeat prescriptions from your GP you will not have to visit your GP practice to pick up your paper prescription. Instead, your GP will send it electronically to the place you choose, saving you time.
You will have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop.
You may not have to wait as long at the pharmacy as there will be time for your repeat prescriptions to be ready before you arrive.
